Summer camp with focus on Human Values (01-05-17)


Truth, righteousness, peace and love — these are the four pillars on which the mansion of happiness is built – Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba.

Free summer showers (Summer Camp) for the children in the age group of 8-14 years was inaugurated on 1st May, 2017 at Gayatri Vidya Parishad, MVP Colony, Visakhapatnam. The programme is being organised by the Balavikas (Education wing) of Sri Sathya Sai City Seva Samithi with support from Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Vihar and Gayatri Vidya Parishad.

In his address, Sri P R S N Naidu, Convenor, Sri Sathya Sai City Seva Samithi said that children should learn human values and that Balvikas would help them to transform into good human beings.

Speaking on the occasion, Smt A Kausalya, Principal, Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Vihar emphasized that children should not become slaves in the hands of technology and gadgets. She also mentioned that physical exercise is a must and children should play more.

Sri D Dakshina Murthy, Director, Gayatri Vidya Parishad, mentioned that Gayatri Vidya Parishad always supports programmes based on education. He said that children should learn Indian culture, good manners and maintain good atmosphere at home. He lauded the great efforts of Sri Sathya Sai City Seva Organisation in promoting human values in budding children through Balavikas pattern of education. District Balvikas Co-ordinator Sri Suryanarayana said that children must make an attempt to know more about Ramayana and other Indian epics to understand and practice values in life.

The following topics to be covered in this free Summer showers camp programme are:

Bhajans/slokas/patriotic songs, human values, ceiling on desires, listening, personality development & communication skills, art & craft, physical exercises & yoga, Indian culture & heritage, guided visualisation and silent sitting along with group activities, role plays, quiz and puzzles. The main objective of conducting the summer camp is to promote Balavikas and value based education amongst children.

Dr Lavanya, Mrs. Jaya Malladi are coordinating the programme under the guidance of Mrs. Devi, Balvikas coordinator, several children are attending the programme with lot of interest and discipline.
