Sri Sathya Sai Maha Rudra Yagam - 4 Nov 2017 - Saroornagar


Karthika masam the eighth lunar month is the most auspicious month to perform Rudrabhishekam. The ancient Vedic hymn Namakam of Sri Rudram lists the various names of Lord Shiva. Chanting of Sri Rudram is a spiritual and popular ritual to please Lord Shiva who grants happiness to the mankind (Loka Kalyanam).

By the Divine grace of Bhagawan, Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations of Ranga Reddy District conducted Ekadasa Rudrabhishekam from 24/10/2017 to 03/10/2017 at Sri Sathya Sai Seva Sudha, Saroornagar. Each day the Mahanyasa Purvaka Rudrabhishekam began at 6am with the chanting of Namakam and Chamakam 11 times. After each chanting of Namakam and Chamakam Harathi was offered to the Lingam. Rudraparayanam ended with three bhajans and Harathi to Swami.


The preparations for the Rudra Yagam began much early wherein the Sevadal members participated in cleaning up the mandir. A few workers were also called in for the minor repairs here and there. On the previous day of the Homam the Shamiyanas were erected covering a large area keeping in view of the huge participation of the devotees.


On the concluding day on Saturday the 4th November the whole place was filled with devotees for  'Sri Sathya Sai Maha Rudra Yagam'. The programme commenced with the lighting of the lamp at 8:15am and Ganesh Pooja. The Yagnam began with Mahanyasam and Linga Abhishekam. There were a total of 162 Participants as Ritwiks, out of which 92 were men all in ceremonial clothes and 70 were women in uniform sarees. After the Rudraparayanam by the Ritwiks, Rudra Homam was performed by the priests, which concluded with Maha Poornahuti Nava Harathi (Nine types) was rendered and the ceremonies concluded with Maha Mangal Harathi. The Harathi was follwed by lunch to all the devotees.

State President Sri S.G.Chalam garu, Vice-President Sri Sarvottamudu garu, State Veda Coordinator Sri Phanidra garu, Sri Hari Prasad garu, State and District Level Office bearers attended the Rudra Yagam. A total number of 1650 people had the fortune of attending the sacred Rudra Yagam.
